Chief Judge of Delta State, Justice Tessy Diai on Tuesday warned Court Registrars to comply with the provisions of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law.

Justice Diai also directed them to ensure that case files of remand suspects are sent to the Attorney-General’s office within the stipulated three-day period.

The CJ spoke during her second quarterly visit to prisons where she said that a total of 360 warrants were reviewed, adding that no inmates were granted bail.

During the visit, four inmates at the Warri Correctional Centre in the state regained their freedom.

The discharged and released inmates include Mr Jeremiah Okotiebor and Odotimade Lylon, both from Ozobo Town in Ijaw land as well as Umaru Abubakar and Mr Peter Okru.

Earlier in his address, the Deputy Comptroller of the Warri Custodial Centre, Mr Edo Lucky, told the Chief Judge that the centre now has provisions of learning, where inmates acquire primary and secondary school certificates while serving their sentences.
