Entertainers’ groups in Oshimili South and North local government areas of Delta State have vowed not to tolerate their colleagues from other states performing in their areas without consulting them.

Some of the groups include the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN), the Stage Managers, the Sound, Gospel Artists, Saxophone players, Deejays, DRA, and others in the Delta State chapter.

Coordinated by the office of the senior special assistant (SSA) on Entertainment to the Governor, in conjunction with all heads of entertainment bodies in the two LGAs, they vowed to hold their ground, except their colleagues identify with them, not just use their terms as if there were no administrators on entertainment on ground.

Disclosing this on Thursday in Asaba, Dr Hon Frank Otoide, SSA on Entertainment, and Emma Onyemeziem, chairman, AGM, Delta chapter, said what they were doing was to create awareness, build a younger and better entertainment body, bring everyone together to associate with the body and let them know that the LG areas are not just conducive for events to hold, some people make it peaceful.

“We are not placing sanctions now, but they should recognise people here. It is even better for them to use people on the ground for the planning, it saves them from flight, material, human and other costs.

“We shall organise a town hall meeting on it, let the entertainers belong to the guild, and let them know the importance of taking care of the people. We will discuss the problems, the way forward, and solutions.

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s endorsement for 2027 was a realisation since they all agreed that the agenda should be sustained until 2031. He noted that Deltans need more developmental projects and support for community-based initiatives.

He vowed that entertainers would be more involved in the election campaign, voting and coordinating their members during the election. According to them, this strategy would give them the opportunity to seek help from the government.
