The Mobile Court of the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency (DSCTDA) has convicted 16 persons for violating environmental sanitation laws within.
The court however discharged four defendants after reviewing their cases, while bench warrants were issued on 12 offenders who failed to appear in court to answer to thecharges filed against them.
Among the cases prosecuted was Chuzz4 Apartment and Suites, which was accused of discharging wastewater into a public drainage system, an act considered a violation of environmental regulations and a threat to public health and sanitation.
The offenders were prosecuted by the Head of Environment of DSCTDA, Mr Isaac Nwosu, who led the enforcement action against individuals and establishments found to be in breach of environmental laws within the capital territory.
Speaking on the development, the Director General, DSCTDA, Mr Patrick Ukah, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to enforcing environmental laws and maintaining a clean and healthy capital territory.
Ukah warned that individuals and organisations who violate environmental regulations, including improper disposal of wastewater and waste materials, will continue to face prosecution.
He further called on residents, business owners, and property managers to comply with environmental laws, stressing that the agency will sustain its enforcement drive to ensure that the capital territory remains orderly, sanitary, and environmentally sustainable.
