The Senator representing Delta South in the National Assembly, Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas has expressed dissatisfaction with the tribunal judgment that ordered for a supplementary election in Warri South local government area.

The senator, who said he was yet to receive the certified true copy of the judgement, stated that the preliminary brief suggested sufficient grounds for appeal which will give him victory.

While saying he was aware of the judgement delivered by the Tribunal sitting in Asaba, Delta state, the senator said the interpretation of the tribunal raises serious questions, which may prompt him to seek the right interpretation through the appellate court.

Joel-Onowakpo, who is the Senate committee vice chairman, Labour and Productivity, said he is determined to defend his electoral victory and uphold the integrity of the electoral process.

The senator however told his teeming supporters and APC faithfuls in Delta South Senatorial District to remain calm and show brotherly love to one another, exercise restraint but remain resolute as they pursue the next legal option.

“The political landscape in Delta south is sure to witness further developments as this legal battle unfolds. As I consult the leadership of our party and my legal team, be rest assured that, we will appeal this judgement and we will do everything within our God given grace to defend our mandate”

On the other hand he told his rival in the PDP that he should not celebrate as the judgement has not given victory to him.

Joel-Onowakpo said his opponent should stop deluding himself as the Tribunal in its ruling only ordered a rerun election.

“Be rest assured that, by God’s grace, the mandate you gave to me at the polls will be defended and I will remain your Senator now and for the next four years,” he said.
