Delta State governor Sheriff Oborevwori has pledged faithful implementation of the mandatory health insurance scheme.
Oborevwori stated this when he hosted the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN) led by its national chairman, Wale Oladigbolu and the national president of Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), Prof. Cyril Osifo in Asaba, the state capital.
He said accessible and affordable healthcare is non-negotiable for a healthy, vibrant and productive population.
The governor said the state government would continue to accord priority attention to the health of Deltans, noting that the state was the first to implement the mandatory health insurance scheme in the country, with over 1.2 million enrollees.
He said, “It is gratifying to know that this conference is focusing on Universal Health Coverage. Accessible and affordable healthcare is non-negotiable for a healthy, vibrant and productive population.
“Health is life; hence the implementation of the mandatory health insurance scheme must be pursued with vigour. I am happy to let you know that Delta State is doing very well in this regard.”
Earlier, Oladigbolu said they were in the state for the association’s national scientific conference tagged: “Asaba 2023” with the theme: “Building Effective Community Pharmacy Services For Universal Health Coverage.”
Oladigbolu said the conference would be attended by over 8,000 pharmacists and 132 pharmaceutical companies in the country, adding that no fewer than 107 pharmacists in Delta State had been trained on vaccine administration.
