Kano State All Progressivs Congress (APC) has condemned the ongoing demolition of structures by the ruling New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) government and described it as “barbaric”.
At a media briefing held at the state NUJ Secretariat yesterday, APC said the state government was not working in the interest of the people.
The APC team led by the deputy state party chairman, Alhaji Shehu Maigari said the demolition was uncalled for since the people acquired their land and developed it with their hard-earned money, and wondered how that becomes a crime. He said politics shouldn’t be allowed to play here since the lives of people are at stake.
“No doubt the action of the NNPP led administration is signalling a bad impression for the citizens as well as those trouping to Kano for various business and commercial undertakings.”
The APC stated that the action of the government had brought an unnecessary chaos, rampant vandalism, broad day light stealing, and innocent grabbing of innocent people’s properties by the youths.
Maigari revealed that the APC would stand up and vehemently kick against the uncivilized approach and urged all those affected to seek legal redress.
The APC used the opportunity to call on parents and guardians to caution their children on the danger and implications of stealing people’s property and to desist forthwith.
The party also drew the attention of the security agencies in the state to step up actions that would restore the people’s confidence in light of the shock and calamity that befell the state.
The APC assured the good people of the state of its unflinching support and concern in this trying moment.
