The Imo State deputy governor, Lady Chinyere Ihuoma Ekomaru, has commended the Imo State Agency for the Control of AIDS (IMSACA), for its sustained efforts in HIV/AIDS awareness campaigns and support for persons living with the disease.

Lady Ekomaru gave the commendation at Government House, Owerri, during a courtesy visit by the leadership of Imo SACA.

She highlighted some of Governor Hope Uzodimma’s significant investments in the health sector, including the Imo Health Insurance Scheme, the construction of ultramodern general hospitals, rehabilitation of primary health centres across the state, and improved remuneration for doctors and other health workers.

The Deputy Governor also noted that Governor Uzodimma is gender-sensitive and has deliberately appointed competent women to key positions, adding that female appointees in the administration have distinguished themselves in service delivery.

She urged IMSACA to intensify public sensitization to protect the teeming population from HIV/AIDS and other related health challenges.

Speaking, the Director General of Imo SACA and leader of the team, Dr. Chidimma Okoro, thanked the Deputy Governor for the warm reception and acknowledged the State Government’s commitment to the health sector.
