Director-general of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig.-Gen. Mohammed Fadeh, has renewed the call for the establishment of the NYSC Trust Fund.
Fadeh renewed the call yesterday while addressing corps members at the swearing-in ceremony of the 2022 Batch ‘B’ Stream II Corps members at the Orientation Camp, in Eziama-Obaire, Nkwerre council area of Imo State.
The DG, who was represented by the state coordinator of the NYSC in the state, Rachael Idaewor, said the trust fund would enhance smooth operations of the scheme.
He commended all stakeholders for the different roles they played in ensuring that the establishment of the trust fund got to an advanced stage of legislation.
He also requested stakeholders to support the scheme’s health initiative for rural dwellers, aimed at easing access to free and qualitative healthcare, especially for the rural populace.
The DG advised corps members to be law abiding, avoid late nights and comply with COVID-19 protocols.
“May I appeal for the support of all stakeholders in the call for the establishment of the NYSC Trust Fund which has now reached an advanced stage of legislation.
“I would also like to appreciate the support of the federal, state and local governments, as well as security agencies, traditional rulers, corps employers and other stakeholders especially in the areas of security and general welfare of Corps members.”
