DHQ Declares Prof, 7 Others Wanted Over Killing Of 17 Army Personnel In Delta

Court orders release of 313 suspects to Borno Gov't

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has declared eight persons wanted for allegedly killing 17 soldiers in Okuama Community of Delta State.

Director, Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba stated this during the bi-weekly update on military operations across the country in Thursday.

The 17 soldiers comprising 4 officers and 13 soldiers buried Wednesday were killed on 14 March 2024 during a peace mission in the community.

The persons declared wanted include Prof. Ekpekpo Arthur, Andaowei Dennis Bakriri, Akevwru Daniel Omotegbo (a.k.a Amagben), Akata Malawa David, Sinclear Oliki, Clement Ikolo Oghenerukeywe, Reuben Baru and Igoli Ebi.

Also, a Federal High Court has ordered the release of 313 suspected terrorists from military detention facilities in the North-East.

The order for their release on 5 March 2024 followed the ruling of the court that the military failed to advance evidence for their continued incarceration in Maiduguri.
