A diaspora group, Association of Ebonyi Indigenes Socio-Cultural In the Diaspora (AEISCID), has expressed its felicitations to a Nigerian-born American Professor of Medicine, Dr. Nnaemeka Umerah for being honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the President of United States of America, Joe Biden.

A letter conveying the warm regards of the President of the United States, Joe Biden following the prestigious award reads: “I congratulate you on taking it upon yourself to contribute to the public good, and I’m proud to present you with the President’s Lifetime Achievement award in recognition of your 5,400 hours of service to this great nation.

“Throughout our country’s history, the American story has been strengthened by those who combine optimism about what can be done with the the resilience that turn vision into reality.

“By sharing your time and passion, you are helping discover and deliver solutions to the challenges we face – solutions that we need now more than ever.”

In a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday and signed by the global President of AEISCID, Paschal Oluchukwu, the group described the honour as truly deserving, considering the years of labour and volunteering services to humanity in the United States of America and across the world rendered by the Nigerian/American Professor Umerah.

Oluchukwu described Umerah as a passionate lover of Nigeria and “one who is always looking forward to investing his talent and resources down home.”

The statement also said: “The building of an orphanage in southern Nigeria, the biggest, East of Nigeria and the provision of boreholes in the rural parts of Northern Nigeria, renovation of schools in some rural communities of the Northern part of Nigeria among other uncommon accomplishments have distinguished Umerah as a humanist and a Philanthropist par excellence.”

Oluchukwu said Umerah as a Professor of medicine in the United States has spent his life advocating for, and helping, the less-privileged across the world.

A native of Anambra State, Nigeria, Umerah is the President and Executive Director of the Public Policy Research and Advocacy Council, (PPRAC), a political think-tank organisation based in America
