The 10th edition of the Face of Independence Nigeria Beauty Pageant, held at the Eko Hotels & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, witnessed the celebration of beauty and patriotism as Eucharis Dibang emerged the overall winner.
Themed “A Decade of Beauty, Purpose and Patriotism,” the event, which was held on October 11, marked a milestone in promoting national pride and youth empowerment through pageantry.
The initiative’s executive producer and convener, Barr. Cathrine Oloidi, described the night as a “humbling and fulfilling moment,” reflecting on the platform’s decade-long journey.
According to her, the pageant’s success over the years is a testimony of grace, consistencyand resilience despite numerous challenges.
“Reaching the 10th edition is a true testimony of grace and resilience.
The journey has not been without challenges, but each edition reminds us of our mission to celebrate beauty with purpose and inspire national pride among young Nigerians,” Oloidi stated.
She explained that the Face of Independence Pageant blended beauty with patriotism by empowering youths to become ambassadors of national values. “Our philosophy has always been Beauty with a Purpose and Patriotism. The pageant goes beyond physical appearance — it’s about intellect, compassion, and service to the nation,” she added.
Over the years, the platform has initiated several humanitarian and developmental projects, including Voices Against Sexual Harassment (VASH), the Foot a Child initiative, girl-child education, environmental sustainability, youth entrepreneurship, and health awareness campaigns across six states. Oloidi noted that many participants have benefited from skill acquisition and community development programmes.
The event displayed culture and creativity, including traditional costume showcases, talent exhibitions, the prestigious Face of Independence Hero’s Award, and a reunion parade of past queens. A special documentary screening and appreciation awards also highlighted the event.
Oloidi said the pageant continues to serve as a transformative platform for young Nigerians. “Beyond beauty, we focus on leadership, education, and personal development. Our queens have become advocates, entrepreneurs, and influencers driving social change,” she remarked.
The winners, including newly crowned Eucharis Dibang, will receive mentorship, brand endorsements, and opportunities to work on impactful community projects. Oloidi said that even non-winning contestants often go on to excel in business, entertainment, and leadership roles and reflecting the initiative’s broader impact.
