The new minister of Labour and Employment, Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi, on Tuesday, officially assumed office with a commitment to foster productive relationships between the federal government, workers and the organised labour.
In his inaugural address, Dingyadi stressed the importance of a collaborative approach, and assured Nigerians that his stint at the ministry will prioritise harmonious labour relations and address outstanding worker issues.
The new minister, who was welcomed by the minister of state for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, and other officials of the ministry, expressed his readiness to work alongside staff to the achieve set goals.
Dingyadi also pledged to create a collaborative environment where the voices of all labour unions are heard and respected.
He assured the staff that issues affecting workers’ welfare would be addressed promptly, including any emerging labour disputes.
The minister urged all ministry staff to support the government’s objectives, show discipline, and prioritise punctuality, stressing the importance of adherence to civil service principles, which he believes will guide the ministry toward accomplishing its goals.
Expressing gratitude for the warm welcome, Dingyadi conveyed his commitment to working in unity with the ministry’s team to “move the ministry to greater heights, noting his belief that, with collective effort, the ministry can achieve its objectives and make substantial contributions to the well-being of Nigerian workers.”
He said, “I want to assure Nigerians that we are going to continue to ensure that peace is maintained in every nook and corner of this country as far as labour matters are concerned.
“Mr President is committed to ensuring that every worker is very happy and we are going to ensure that our workers across the board are carried along and are made to support the present administration.
“I want to appeal to all the staff, management staff and other support staff to give us their support and cooperation so that together we try to resolve all issues, not only resolving issues, try to enhance the welfare, the well-being and the support and cooperation of all workers in this country, we have the capacity, we have the determination,” Dingyadi stated.
