In a welcome remark in Umuahia, the state capital, the chairman of the commission, David Anyaele said the greatest want of any group of persons or political entity is quality leadership.
Underlining the importance of quality leadership, he asserted that “The success, growth and sustainability of any organization or society starts and ends with efficient leadership.”

“Leadership determines work culture, values, public perceptions, and the extent they can attract quality personnel, investment, turnover, and patronage,” he explained.

He further said the commission organised the training to demonstrate its commitment to ensure the wellbeing of clusters and expose them to skills necessary to maximise their potential.

The chairman used the forum to thank and commend the governor of the state, Alex Otti for his continued support to the commission to ensure that the training came to fruition.

“He places recognition, and prioritizes inclusion and participation of persons with disabilities (PWDs) in leadership positions. This is evident in his appointment of six PWDs of different forms in his administration.’

“The governor has further matched it with his approval for the establishment of the zonal office of the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities in Umuahia.”

Speaking to LEADERSHIP, a member of the commission, Stanley Onyebuchi said he expects there would be change of leadership style among the clusters as a result of the training.

“Well, from the response of the participants, you can see that they really grabbed what the resource persons were saying, and we’re all happy. I can say it was successful,” he added.
