Distinct Kids Club, a platform dedicated to helping children blossom into eloquent, confident and polished speakers of the English language, has honoured Nigerian children with outstanding communication skills.
The founder, Oleander Yuba, while speaking to LEADERSHIP at the Distinct Kids Showcase and Award Ceremony in Lagos, averred that the children were recognized due to their outstanding communication skills.
“We are celebrating the remarkable achievements of children who have acquired excellent public speaking skills, demonstrating outstanding confidence and poise at a young age,” she disclosed.
Speaking about the Club, the founder revealed that the Distinct Kids Club was set up to nurture eloquence and exquisite communication skills in children and to help them navigate the world of literacy easily at a young age.
“We achieve this using our several initiatives that transcend the traditional academic system. Additionally, our initiatives are designed to first help these children break out from the belief that reading and writing are obscurities. By doing so, we enable them to see the various possibilities that exist in getting proper literacy education. We don’t just help them to read and write fluently, we also empower their minds for success and instill a growth mindset in them to help them thrive in every aspect of their lives,” she further explained.
Meanwhile, the awardees applauded the Club for grooming them to become eloquent speakers.
For instance, one of the awardees, Inioluwa Ojunyemi, said she is a public speaker today, all thanks to Distinct Kids Club. According to Ojunyemi, she joined the club during the COVID-19 lockdown.
“My mum was looking for something we could do during the COVID-19 lockdown because my siblings and I were idle and introverted, as we were mostly indoors. She decided to enroll us in the club.
“Before joining the club, I couldn’t speak boldly in public. But, within a few months of joining the club, I gained confidence. Today, I am an eloquent speaker,” she acclaimed.
Ojunyemi urged parents to enroll their children in the Distinct Kids Club to enable them to speak properly and boldly in public.
