Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has once again addressed his rumoured ill-health, challenging a female BBC journalist to look at him directly and tell him whether he looked like a sick person.

LEADERSHIP recalls that a few weeks ago, the social media was awash with fake news about Wike’s health condition with stories that he collapsed at a social event and he was rushed to a foreign country for medical attention.

But, about a couple of days later, Wike made a public appearance when he led an FCT delegation on Eid-el-Fitr homage to his principal, President Bola Tinubu, at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja. Thereafter, he reacted to the rumour at another function during an interview with journalists, saying he would end up writing the condolences of those wishing him dead.

However, in a yet-to-be-published exclusive interview with BBC Pidgin Service, where Wike addressed the issue, among others, the FCT Minister insisted that he was hale and hearty.

Responding to a direct question of whether he is healthy or not, Wike responded: “As I am talking to you, do I look like a sick person to you? Look at me very well, you will think that I am still in my 30s. I am very well.”

Also, Wike spoke on the public reactions trailing his decision to carry his two sons along while on official functions on some occasions, asking what offence he had committed with his choice. “What is wrong with that?” the FCT Minister queried.

The BBC Pidgin Service said the full interview with Wike will be published on Saturday evening.
