Dolly Parton Estate Seeks Restraining Order Against Nephew After Security Dispute

Dolly Parton’s estate has taken legal action against her nephew, Bryan Seaver, following his removal from the security operation that had protected the singer and her properties for more than two decades.

Parton died aged 80 on August 25, 2026, with Seaver, the son of her sister Cassie Parton, publicly announcing her death. He had succeeded his father, Larry Seaver, as Parton’s head of security.

According to a termination notice obtained by TMZ and reported by PEOPLE, Seaver and his security companies were removed from Parton’s properties in September. Replacement security was subsequently installed at locations including her Nashville residence, museum, downtown home and warehouse.

The dispute later moved to court after She’s Alive, LLC, an entity linked to Parton’s estate and managed by her longtime manager, Danny Nozell, sought a temporary restraining order against Seaver in Davidson County Chancery Court in Nashville.

Court documents cited by TMZ and PEOPLE allege that Seaver engaged in threats, intimidation and coercion following his dismissal, including alleged demands for money. The estate also claims he referred to his military-contractor background, access to weapons and capacity for violence while communicating with people connected to Parton’s business interests.

Among the statements cited in the filing are: “I am about to become the hand of retribution for my entire family” and “All I do is warfare … everyone needs to be worried about what I might do.”

The estate further alleges that Seaver threatened Parton’s business relationships and brand. PEOPLE reported that one of the singer’s longtime lawyers was allegedly told: “I’m not an entertainment person. I’m a killer.”

Seaver and his security team previously said they were “dismayed” by the decision to terminate their services and maintained that they remained committed to protecting Parton’s family.

The allegations against Seaver have not been established in court, while he has disputed the circumstances surrounding his dismissal.
