Executive chairman, Economic Growth and Development Centre, Professor Magnus Kpakol, has harped on the need for Nigeria to urgently invest in human capital development.
The professor of economics however, lamented that Nigerian leaders are not driving the needed human capital development, saying that only with good leadership will Nigeria be able to achieve the ambition.
He spoke in Abuja yesterday, while delivering a lecture at the Abuja Leadership Centre (ACL), a TETFund Centre of Excellence in Public Governance and Leadership, at University of Abuja.
Speaking on the topic: “The Purpose of Leadership In Developing Economy,” Kpakol said Nigeria is blessed with human resources and material resources and only proper management is needed to take the country to a greater height.
“We are here to train people and show them how they can get knowledge and translate it into skills and translate the skills into products.
“We want to be able to produce the goods and services that people of the world want at a very high quality and if we have a collective attitude and national strategies where everybody buys into and understands the importance of relationships, then we will be able to do it,” he said.
