Don Urges Stakeholders To Provides Conducive Environment For Reading

The Deputy Vice Chancellor administration, Nasarawa state university keffi, Professor Sa’adatu Liman has urged stakeholders to provide conducive reading environments for students across the country to help them appreciate the essence of the exercise.

She stated this at the 17th Annual International Youth Essay Competition Seminar and Prize Presentation Organised by a faith base organization Crystal Muslim organization held in Abuja.

Professor Sa’adatu Explained that building a sustainable Reading Culture in Nigeria” plays a vital role in societal transformation and development.

The University Don who expressed concern that improving reading culture among young learners would enhance their academic scope and their chances of success in academics and in life generally hence the need for relevant authorities to prioritize more attention on it.

One of the key note speakers at the event Hajia Mariam Usman said its become imparative to invest from early childhood on the younger ones to create reading habit in them so as to address basic challenges in the country.

The National Amir Crystal Muslim organization, Mallam Segir shettima said the essence of the competition was to engaged persons at the tender age towards reading culture to promotes critical thinking, creativity and an open mind.

He said the organization was committed towards building a media conscious generation especially, Muslim youths, in order to propagate the true idealism of Islam through writing, publications and public sensitization.

According to him in line with the objectives, the Organisation the Annual International Essay Competition was also to encouraged the Youths to carryout research and discuss the Islamic perspective of pertinent social issues affecting the society.

Meanwhile,the theme of this years event is ” Rising Above limitations, seeing opportunities I’m challenges”, Under the theme, have 4 categories divided according to Age groups, as CATEGORY A (Primary School) with the TOPIC: Positive Thinking as a Solution to Problems.

While CATEGORY B is for (JSS) with the TOPIC: Overcoming Challenges: Ibaadah Vs Action,Also CATEGORY C (SSS) has the TOPIC: A Muslim Reaction to Crises: Fight, Flee or Laugh?And CATEGORY D (18yrs and above )has its TOPIC: Taking Responsibility for Actions to Rise Above Challenges.
