Chief of staff to Abia State governor, Pastor Caleb Ajagba has told the opposition that efforts to outs the governor, Alex Otti in 2027 will end in furtility.
Ajagba made the assertion when he hosted the new leadership of the Correspondents’ Chapel, of the state council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, in Umuahia, the state capital.
“Those who created the problems of the past are the same people re-grouping again; but the people are wiser now. They can see the transparency and direction of this government,” he said.
He noted that under Otti, the people had tasted quality leadership because he came to work for the people and not to use public funds to please cronies and praise singers.
“Otti has not come to share public money, but to create prosperity. True empowerment is about helping people to be productive, not dependent”, the aide maintained.
He recognized the crucial role of the media in promoting accountability and good governance, assuring of the readiness of the Otti-led administration to partner the members.
Describing them as key partners in progress, Ajagba commended their display of professionalism and objective reporting of government’s activities.
He congratulated the chairman of the chapter, Steve Oko for his emergence, thanked the members for the visit, and assured them of the government cooperation and support.
Speaking earlier, the chairman explained that the visit was to interface and enlighten the chief of staff on the crucial roles of the media as partners in progress.
Oko said as the watchdog of society, journalists are constitutionally and morally bound to hold leaders accountable for the people as one of its major responsibilities.
Deacon Oko who noted that some He appreciated “the observable progresses the administration has recorded in less than three years in office”, urging him not not to relent in his developmental strides.
