Aggrieved family members of the late Ohinoyi of Ebira land, Alhajl Mohammad Sanl Omolorl, have been advised to seek redress in a court of law rather than drag the name of the respected late monarch in the mud.
About nine members of the family in their response to a petition to Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi state and the National Judicial Council, NJC, by the aggrieved family members over the allegation that their case against the inheritance of their father has been frustrated for three years, advised them to pursue their case in court but leave their fathers name from being dragged in public.
Nine family members signed the response to the petition, including Abdulmalik Sani Omolori, Architect Umar Sani Omolori, Dr Sani Omolori Habeeb, Anas Sani Omolori, Abubakar Sani Omolori, Mohammed Sani Omolori, Maryam Sani, Humale Sani, and Haruna Muhammad Sani.
According to them, their late father was a man of great stature and lofty achievements, known for selfless service to his people.
They said they owed it a duty to uphold his good name and Image. „If we cannot build on It, it is therefore incumbent upon us to tread with caution and care when we address family matters in the public domain, as whatever we say or do can and will be construed to be a reflection of the kind of family left behind by our noble father,” they said.
The family members said in the response, „There are no such things as the perfect human being or the perfect family, but it is a fact that the best and most progressive persons or families are those who keep their affairs in their rightful places, that is, knowing what is private and keeping it as such, as well as knowing what can be made public and giving it its space.
“This agitation has brought nothing but ridicule and public condemnation to the Omolori brand since It was brought to the public domain, and our noble father’s name and reputation Are being soiled by the fifth columnists, who cannot wait to jump on the bandwagon of denigrating our image in the public domain. There is nothing to be gained in the end game of this pattern of agitation except self-destruction to the family.
“We recall that when The Grand Qadi of FCT Abuja addressed us on this case, his advice was for the family to present it before the Shariah Court for proper investigation and administration.
“Why not try that instead of throwing the family into murky waters of the public domain, even though we know nothing to be gained from it other than destroying the family name and denigrating our late father‘s lofty name?
“We, the undersigned, therefore wish to state categorically to the general public that the Omolori Family, as an entity, does not believe in this style of pursuing allegations on family issues in public, and we, on behalf of our siblings, dissociate ourselves from all negative publicities brought about by this issue.
“We will let you know that any of our siblings who feel genuinely aggrieved should seek redress in the Sharia court, which is eminently qualified and empowered to adjudicate on such matters as humbly advised by the grand Qadi of FCT Sharla Court of Appeal.
On the allegation in the petition to the governor and NJC that one individual solely has influence to suppress their agitations, they said, “Secondly, the subject matter of this agitation has in the past been addressed by so many notable entities and eminent people such as the
Omolorl family themselves in series of meetings held In 2017, EFCC, the
Nigerian Police Including the Office of the Inspector General, the Grand Qadi of the FCT Sharia Court of Appeal, the Berekete Family (A prominent Human Right Radio Station), His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, the minister of justice and attorney general of the federal Republic of Nigeria, the Okovi Super-Clan and the Omavi Sub-Cian to which the Omolori Family Belongs and several others.
“Whiist we cannot hold forth for the above listed entities and authorities, any right thinking person will not buy Into the narrative that there exist such a person, who can gag all this notable entities from, at the very least, speaking up If a genuine and credible case Is presented before them.”
