There were indications that the Police authorities in Rivers State have redeployed the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in-charge of Ahoada Police Division of Ahoada-East local government area of Rivers State, Zuokumor Richard, a Superintendent of Police (SP).

Already, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Adewale Nureni, has assumed duties as the new DPO in-charge of Ahoada Police Division.

Recall that Richard was deployed to Ahoada on September 9, 2023, following the gruesome murder of his predecessor, SP Bako Angbashim, by members of a suspected cult gang on September 8, 2023, at Odiemude community in Ahoada-East local government area of the state.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the latest redeployment of the DPO may not be unconnected to the leakage of interrogation videos of some suspects arrested by the Police in connection with Angbashim’s murder.

Sources privy to the development said the leaked videos contained vital information that could sabotage further investigation and arrest of other fleeing suspects.

One of the sources said: “We learnt that the Police in the state were displeased with the manner videos of interrogation of suspects which has the capacity to jeopardize chances of arresting David Gift a.k.a ‘2Baba’, the prime suspect in the killing of SP Angbashim was being leaked.”

However, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Grace Iringe-Koko, was yet to issue any official statement on the development as at the time of filing this report.
