A Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has remanded the traditional ruler of Igbu-Akoh Kingdom in Ahoada-East local government area of the state, Eze Cassidy Ikegbidi, and over 50 others, in Port Harcourt Maximum Correctional Centre, over the murder of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in-charge of Ahoada Police Division, SP Bako Angbashim.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the accused persons were charged with different charges of murder, attempted murder, conspiracy, cultism, and kidnapping, among others.

When the case was called, counsel to the first and and other defendants, Uchechukwu Igbegiri, urged the court to grant bail to the defendants

But, prosecuting counsel, SP Enyiyepere Sikpi, opposed to the bail application, noting that the nature of the charge was too grievous for such oral application.

In his ruling, the trial judge, Justice Sika Henry Apirioku, ordered that the defendants be remanded at the Port Harcourt correctional centre and adjourned the case to November 21, 2023 for plea taking and consideration of the defendants’ bail applications.
