Dr Subi Appointed MOSIEND European Chairman To Drive Youth, Digital Economy

The Movement for the Survival of the Izon Ethnic Nationality in the Niger Delta (MOSIEND) has appointed Dr. Ilaye Robin Subi as Chairman of its European chapter.

The appointment is part of a broader strategy to deepen engagement with the Ijaw diaspora and forge international partnerships that translate into tangible development outcomes for the Ijaw people and the Niger Delta. It is expected to strengthen diaspora participation, youth development, and institutional collaboration across Europe.

In a statement signed by MOSIEND president general, Dr. Kennedy Tonjo West, the organisation described the appointment as a significant milestone in its outreach to Ijaws in Europe and beyond.

Dr. West noted that Dr. Subi’s academic credentials, international exposure, and proven commitment to youth development position him well to build meaningful connections between the Ijaw people and European institutions.

“We are optimistic that his leadership will bring fresh ideas, strategic partnerships, and new opportunities that will ultimately contribute to the advancement of the Ijaw people and the Niger Delta,” Dr. West said.

Dr. Subi is an academic, leadership consultant, and international development specialist with experience spanning higher education, human capital development, educational reform, digital transformation, and youth empowerment. He holds an EdD and MSc, alongside several professional fellowships, and has worked with higher education institutions in the United Kingdom.

His expertise in artificial intelligence, technology-enhanced learning, curriculum development, and youth empowerment aligns with the Niger Delta’s pressing need to equip young people for a rapidly digitising economy.

His professional experience across the United Kingdom, Italy, and Switzerland is expected to facilitate stronger links between Ijaw communities in the diaspora, academia, professional organisations, businesses, and development institutions across Europe.

Elder T.K. Ogoriba, Chairman of the MOSIEND National Elders Council, also welcomed the appointment. He offered a clear benchmark for assessing the new chairman’s performance: leadership, he said, is ultimately measured by the value it creates for the people it serves.

MOSIEND has long viewed the Ijaw diaspora as a vital reservoir of professional expertise, investment capacity, and international networks—resources that are often acknowledged but seldom effectively harnessed for homegrown development. The European chapter is expected to bridge that gap.

Under Dr. Subi’s leadership, the organisation will prioritise youth development, education, professional networking, international partnerships, and strategic advocacy for the Ijaw people.
