Farmers in Kwara State have expressed fears of possible losses as a result of the rising level of drought across the country.

They said the unfriendly weather was threatening their farm produce. Some farmers who spoke with LEADERSHIP Weekend  in Ogbondoroko,  Asa local government area of the state, said the current low rainfall would lead to food shortage in the coming year across the country.

Samuel Opaaduraagbaye and Moses Kedede said they were feeling the negative impact of the drought.

They compared the 2023 farming season yields to the current year, concluding that, “there is looming hunger and food shortage ahead of Nigerians even if the rain should start now at the eleventh hour.”
