The Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq said that the annual Ilorin Emirate Durbar presents the people of the Emirate the opportunity to celebrate their cultural heritage with class, pride and gratitude to God.
The governor stated this in a statement he personally signed after attending the 2024 Ilorin Emirate Durbar on Tuesday.
The statement reads:”Today (Tuesday), as we have done over the past few years, my family and I again joined Mai Martaba, the Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari (CFR) for the annual Ilorin Grand Durbar.
“It was an occasion to celebrate our cultural heritage with class, pride, and gratitude to the Almighty Allaah. Like the IEDPU Conference, the Ilorin Durbar has become a national spectacle as it unites our people behind the leadership of Mai Martaba, the Emir of Ilorin and projects the unique beauty of our heritage as the southernmost Emirate.
“It is gratifying to mention that our iconic Sugar Film Factory is currently producing a documentary on the Ilorin Durbar as a national cultural heritage. We believe that the Ilorin Durbar is long due to be so designated by the UNESCO.
“I thank all the sons and daughters of the Emirate for turning out in their numbers for the beautiful horse ride, which is a parade of our valour, loyalty to our Emir, and our strength as a people.
“Once again, I congratulate Mai Martaba and the Durbar Committee for another successful and peaceful Durbar. I wish us many more years of beautiful Durbar and bid everyone safe travels back to their destinations.
“Eid-el-Adha el-Mubaarak, and may Allaah accept our worship and supplications.”
