The emir of Dutse in Jigawa State, Alhaji Hameem Nuhu Sanusi, has revealed that the emirate distributed Zakkat, including cash and food items, worth over N1.2 billion in 2025.
The emir made the statement at the inauguration of a mosque built in Birnin Kudu town by former minority leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Faruk Adamu Aliyu.
He explained that the collection and distribution of Zakkat is part of a strategy established by Islamic principles to promote wealth creation, distribution, social security, and economic growth.
The emir commended Hon. Faruk Adamu for building the mosque, which will serve as a center for learning and worshipping Almighty Allah. He described this charitable work as worthy of emulation by all.
In his speech at the occasion, former Katsina State Governor and former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Aminu Bello Masari, called on religious leaders to encourage young people to pursue education.
He noted that Islam is built upon knowledge and encourages the pursuit of learning and research. Unfortunately, he said, Muslim youth in Northern Nigeria are currently being left behind in the contemporary race for knowledge and ideas.
Hon. Masari then charged the leaders of the new mosque to promote a better understanding of Islam and its concept of life.
