Eagle Online Founder Dotun Oladipo Dies At 56

Renowned journalist and founder of The Eagle Online, Dotun Oladipo, has passed away at the age of 56.

Oladipo reportedly took ill suddenly in his office on Tuesday and died hours later at a hospital in Lagos.

His passing was confirmed by the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP), where he previously served as president. Current GOCOP President Danlami Nmodu announced the news to guild members late Tuesday evening.

The Innovative Media Partners Cooperative Multipurpose Society (IMPCMS), where Oladipo served as founding president, also expressed grief over his death. In a statement released Wednesday morning, IMPCMS General Secretary Nkanu Egbe described his passing as a devastating loss to both the cooperative and Nigerian journalism.

With a career spanning nearly three decades, Oladipo served as Chief Executive Officer of Premium Eagle Media Limited. He previously worked as politics editor at PUNCH Newspapers and held senior editorial roles at the Nigerian Tribune, Nigerian Compass, and The Sun before founding The Eagle Online.
