At least 144 people have died and hundreds are injured in Myanmar following a 7.7 magnitude earthquake yesterday.

Tremors from the earthquake were felt in neighbouring countries, including Thailand where an unfinished high-rise has collapsed.

Eighty-one construction workers are missing, the Thai deputy prime minister said, and a search and rescue operation was underway yesterday.

Dramatic images show damaged buildings in Myanmar, while video shows a rooftop pool in Bangkok spilling over the sides of a swaying building.

Myanmar has been in political turmoil since a military junta seized power in a 2021 coup – getting information on the ground is difficult
