As Christians around the world celebrate Easter, commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ after his crucifixion, the chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Christopher Maikalangu, has called on residents to remember the less fortunate and extend kindness during this significant season.

In a statement signed by Kingsley Madaki, the senior special assistant to the chairman on media and public affairs, Maikalangu shared his Easter message on Sunday, urging Christians to reflect on the sacrifices made by Jesus on the cross.

“As we celebrate this holy occasion, let us continue to reflect on the lessons from the sacrifices Jesus made for us,” he emphasised.

The AMAC chairman explained the importance of celebrating with loved ones and fostering a spirit of unity within the community.

“We must show love and support to our neighbours, regardless of our differences, and work towards building a stronger and more united community,” he stated.

Maikalangu encouraged Christians to embody the values of forgiveness, tolerance, renewal, and peaceful coexistence, urging residents to practice these ideals daily.

He specifically called on the faithful to pray for the unity and progress of all levels of government and the success of their leaders, recognising Easter as a significant moment in Christendom.

The chairman congratulated all Christian faithful and encouraged them to demonstrate love and maintain harmonious community relationships.

“Residents have in the past shown their belief in these principles through random acts of kindness towards one another, regardless of ethnic or religious differences. Let us be strengthened and encouraged by the significance of the Easter season to continue along this path,” he said.

He further urged residents to set aside political differences and reconnect with friends and neighbours, reaffirming the goal of building a strong, united, and indivisible AMAC.

“We want to assure you that this administration is committed to fulfilling its mandate of developing our council and connecting it with the rest of the world through infrastructure we can all be proud of,” he added.

However, he also emphasised that such progress requires the cooperation of the citizens, who are central to all efforts.

Maikalangu concluded by reminding everyone to remain vigilant during their festive activities, advocating for a culture of awareness by saying, “Let us continue to imbibe the mantra of saying something when we see something.”

“Once again, I wish you all worthwhile and memorable Easter celebrations,” he said, urging all to embrace the season’s spirit.
