The Primate of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Most Rev. Henry Ndukuba has assured that just as Jesus Christ rose from the dead, Nigeria will rise again.

Ndukuba gave the assurance on Sunday during the Easter service at the Cathedral Church of Advent in Abuja, while speaking to journalists about the significance of Easter.

He also proclaimed that whatever the enemy has taken away from Nigeria, God will restore to the people.

The primate referenced Ezekiel 37 from the Holy Bible, stating that even the dry bones were raised by God through His word and spirit to become a mighty army.

“Nigeria is rising again. We will rise up from wherever we are, regardless of what the enemy has done to bring us down. These carcasses and hopelessness will surely rise again in power to become a mighty army.

“When Jesus rose from the dead, according to John 20:19-21, He made it clear that He had come to give us peace.

“He stood in the midst of His disciples, even within their locked doors and fears, and said to them, ‘Peace be with you.’ As we celebrate Easter this year, my prayer is that our leaders will pursue peace,” he stated.

The primate appealed to Nigerians to seek peace, noting that Nigeria is a deeply religious country for both Christians and Muslims, with leaders taking pride in sending the highest number of pilgrims to holy lands.

“But what impact has this had on us? When those who are leading or sponsoring pilgrimages are the same individuals sponsoring the massacre of ordinary citizens, let them be exposed.

“Let those who wish this country harm be revealed. As I have said before, there are two things that will consume this nation: the weaponization of religious and tribal identities, which will continue to derail us, and corruption.

“Corruption occurs when we utilise the opportunities we have not for the good of all, but for our own selfish interests,” he noted.

Ndukuba charged Nigerian leaders to learn from Jesus, who, despite having all authority and power, sacrificed Himself for humanity. “We demand that our leaders also lead sacrificially for the benefit of the people.”

He further encouraged Nigerians to stand strong in the face of violence, anarchy, poverty, and suffering, asserting, “The Lord is encouraging us to remain focused and not to give up.

“If death could not hold Jesus, our problems and difficulties have solutions. And that solution is in God. That solution is in His Son, Jesus Christ. I encourage us all,” he said.
