The Ebonyi State Working Committee of National Rescue Movement (NRM) has suspended its governorship candidate in the state, Mr. Tony Usulor, over alleged gross misconduct and anti-party activities.
Announcing the suspension at the end of the State Working Committee meeting in Abakaliki, the state chairman of the party, Mr. Stanley Ogodo, said the indefinite suspension was in line with the constitution of the party, Article 9.1 (para) A and Article 9.2 (para) A-G which stipulates disciplinary actions against gross misconduct and sabotaging the party.
Ogodo urged other candidates of party not to be discouraged by the decision taken by the party and encouraged them to continue to carry out their campaigns, adding that the party would not relent in ensuring victory for them in the 2023 general elections.
The SWC while appreciating the national and state leaderships of the party for the pursuit of the party’s common goal and interest appealed to the NWC to mandate the governorship candidate to appear before the State Working Committee to defend himself and properly identify and work with the SWC for the progress of the party within seven days.
The SWC maintained that following the resolution and subsequent suspension of Mr. Usulor, the party was no longer supporting his governorship ambition.
Efforts to get the reaction of the suspended governorship candidate for proved abortive as he declined calls.
