A member of the House of Representatives representing Ikwo/Ezza South federal constituency of Ebonyi State, Hon. Chinedu Ogah, has distributed 1,200 bags of fertilisers to rural farmers in the constituency.

At the event during the weekend, Hon Ogah said the distribution was designed to reduce hunger and ensure food sufficiency in the constituency.

He said, “I am a village man, a farmer that knows the problem of my people. We have shared fertiliser before now. On 2nd July this year, we shared 30,000 bags of fertiliser to farmers in the Ikwo/Ezza South federal constituency.

“But with the generosity of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, his leadership approved a truckload of fertiliser to each of the 360 House of Representatives.

“I have 31 wards in my constituency, and there are over 270,000 electorates in the constituency, and I decided to get more fertiliser for them, and that’s why we have 1,200 bags, and that’s what we distributed as a second tranche”, he stated.

Ogah said the National Assembly’s resolution to cut the members’ salaries by 50 percent is part of their sacrifices to alleviate the sufferings of Nigerians due to general hardship.

“We decided that our salaries should be cut by 50 percent because of the hardship in the country. The salary of a National Assembly member is N520,000, but we have to cut it by 50 because of the sufferings of Nigerians,” Ogah submitted.

Ogah had earlier distributed rice seedlings to the farmers and also distributed 30,000 bags of fertiliser on July 2, 2024.
