The Archbishop Metropolitan and Primate of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Most Reverend Henry Ndukuba, has called on the federal government to revitalise agro-industries to tackle the social and economic challenges currently facing the nation.

Ndukuba who made the call during the 35th anniversary of Abuja Diocese of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion,  highlighted the theme “Renewed to Soar Higher.”

He asserted that revitalising agro-industries could position Nigeria as a food hub for Africa, creating job opportunities for youth and citizens alike.

The primate also proposed utilising local agricultural products, such as cotton from Funtua to supply textile mills in Kaduna, and maize from the northern regions to process food for the country and beyond.

“Industrialisation is the key to transforming our fortunes; it will create jobs for our citizens. When people work, they contribute to taxes and government revenue, enabling more development while providing for their families,” he explained.

He further expressed optimism that focusing on crops like tomatoes and processing various agro-products could lead to food sufficiency and improved dignity for families.

Ndukuba while encouraging Nigerians to maintain hope, expressed confidence that God would renew the strength and determination of the populace to overcome barriers and reach new heights.

“With the challenges we face, we must not lose hope. Our celebration of 35 years is also a reminder that we should trust God; in due season, He will elevate our nation,” he declared.

While speaking on the anniversary celebration, he expressed gratitude to God for the survival and resilience of both Nigeria and the Church over the past 35 years, despite numerous challenges.

Reflecting on the journey, Ndukuba noted that these years have been significant for the growth of God’s Kingdom and the welfare of His people.

The primate stressed that with effective leadership and a clear vision, both rural and urban Nigerians have demonstrated that great achievements are possible even with limited resources.

“Our celebration today is a testament to the faithfulness and support of God. Just as He has guided us in the Church, He has also aided our nation,” he stated.

Ndukuba concluded by praying for a manifestation of God’s glory and power over Nigeria and its leadership, urging for a transformative journey that would position the country where it is meant to be.

“Nigeria has the potential not only to transform itself but also to impact the entire continent and the world socially, economically, and through its abundant natural resources. There is so much greatness within Nigeria,” he said.
