Declan Rice has revealed that he received a signed guitar from Ed Sheeran, which pays tribute to his remarkable free kicks during Arsenal’s Champions League quarterfinal victory over Real Madrid.
In the first leg at home, Rice scored two stunning free kicks—his first in a competitive match—which played a crucial role in Arsenal’s impressive 5-1 aggregate win over the Spanish giants. The Gunners will now face Paris Saint-Germain in the semifinals.
The midfielder contributed to Arsenal’s 4-0 victory against Ipswich Town at Portman Road on Sunday, where Sheeran holds a minority stake. The singer’s ongoing “+-=÷x” tour also sponsors the club’s shirt.
Following Arsenal’s win over Sheeran’s struggling Ipswich team, Rice took to Instagram to share the special gift he received.
In reference to the duet he performed with Sheeran during England’s Euro 2020 campaign, the message on the acoustic guitar read: “Declan! You play this next time I see you, we’ll have a sing-along. P.S. killer free kicks!”
Arsenal’s next Premier League fixture is against Crystal Palace on Wednesday.
