Esan Alliance Movement (EAM), a youth group within the All Progressives Congress (APC), on Monday, expressed its support for the governorship aspiration of Senator Monday Okpebholo for the 2024 governorship election in the Edo State, to succeed Governor Godwin Obaseki.

The group, in a statement by its coordinator, Samson .A. Okoduwa, and Secretary, Imade Osagie, made available to journalists in Benin City, noted that after due analysis and wide consultations, it came to the conclusion that Senator Okpebholo was the most popular among the array of APC aspirants eyeing the party’s governorship ticket.

They also appealed to the leadership of the APC to cede its ticket to Edo Central senatorial district in the spirit of fairness, justice and equity since the other two zones have had their fair share at the governorship seat.

While calling on all Esan land’s sons and daughters to support the APC in taking over power from that it called the lacklustre Obaseki administration, the group said Okpebholo, who is fondly called ‘Akpakomiza’, has demonstrated purposeful leadership, capacity and foresight in contributing to the development of Esan people with his hard earned resources.

“It is time we must come together and rally round the governorship ambition of Senator Okpebholo. We know there are other strong aspirants in the race, but Okpbholo can bring in the votes for the APC if he eventually emerges as our party’s flagbearer.

“We are talking about a candidate that has the war-chest and electable, that can take on the oppositions. We have seen what he has done in the areas of basic infrastructure for his people, scholarship, and provisions of borehole,” the group noted.
