The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Monday Okpebholo aka ‘Akpakomiza’ yesterday said Edo women would be accorded their rightful place in his administration if he is elected the governor of Edo State in the September 21 governorship election.
The federal lawmaker who emerged the APC governorship candidate last month stated this in a goodwill message to commemorate the 2024 International Women’s Day described inclusivity as key to the advancement of women.
Okpebholo said women all over the world must be encouraged to harness their potentials towards the advancement of a better society adding that Edo women over the years have contributed immensely not just to the development of the state but Nigeria and the globe.
He said, “I’m delighted to lend my voice in support of our mothers on this day of International Women’s Day. I want to assure our courageous Edo women that by the grace of God, if elected the governor of Edo State, women will play a pivotal role in my administration and be given their right of place.
“I want to note that my administration will encourage and collaborate with women groups in a bid to work closely with them to eliminate poverty, especially among our rural women. My administration will not only empower women but also train and increase their capacity with the right tools to do better.”
