Former governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, has alleged partisanship ahead of the party’s Edo South Senatorial District primary, accusing some party leaders of backing a preferred aspirant.

Ize-Iyamu claimed that state resources were being deployed for logistics and refreshments to mobilise support for a particular contender, despite three aspirants still in the race.

He also accused certain party leaders of compromising the neutrality required in the primary process, insisting that all aspirants must be given equal opportunity in line with the party’s guidelines.

Speaking during consultations with party leaders, ward chairmen, youths and women groups across the seven local government areas of Edo South, Ize-Iyamu dismissed reports that he had withdrawn from the race.

He described the claims as false and misleading, insisting that he remained fully in the contest for the APC senatorial ticket.

According to him, the rumours were being circulated by opponents seeking to create confusion within the party and weaken his support base ahead of the primary election.

The APC chieftain urged party members to remain peaceful and orderly during the exercise, while calling for a transparent and credible primary process free from imposition or intimidation.

He expressed confidence that the party would emerge stronger after the primaries and work collectively towards victory in the general elections.

The statement was issued on Sunday by Noble Sunday on behalf of the media team of the Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu Campaign Organisation.
