The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Dr Isaiah Osifo has called on Edo people to reject the Labour Party and its governorship candidate at the forthcoming governorship election over alleged incompetence.

Osifo pointed out that the manner the leadership of the party has conducted its affairs is a clear demonstration that it is not different from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He said the LP, like other parties, once it records success in an election, the leadership would metamorphose into a gang of fraudsters and personalise the political party.

He said, “A political party with a fraudulent leadership cannot give birth to a good candidate or good governance. The character of the factional leadership of LP cannot yield a good candidate or give birth to good governance in Nigeria, and in Edo State.

“The gubernatorial primaries of LP in Edo State is being challenged by Barrister Ken Imansuangbon and it is my hope that the judiciary will be upright and the outcome will bring hope of democracy in Edo State.

“My decision to distance myself from LP and to contest on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) is to work with all good men and women in LP, in all the political parties and non-partisan stakeholders of democracy in Edo State to bring democracy and good governance to Edo State.

“The people of Edo State are intelligent and should know that the characters that are parading themselves as leaders of LP in Edo State and in Nigeria are despicable and should be avoided. The leadership of LP has failed and Edo electorates should refuse to endorse a fraudulent political leadership.

“I’m committed to internal democracy, political party discipline and good governance for the collective interest of the people of Edo State.
