A large crowd yesterday accompanied one of the governorship aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Rt Hon Dennis Idahosa, to the party’s secretariat where he formally declared to contest the 2024 governorship election.

The Edo-born grassroots politician vowed to win the governorship seat for the APC, promising to revamp all the ailing sectors of the state economy and reposition it on the path of prosperity.

He told party leaders at the state and local government levels who attended the event that he remains the only aspirant with the popularity and capacity to win the next year governorship election for the APC if given ticket.

Idahosa said under his stewardship, he would ensure full autonomy for local government councils order to fast-track development at the grassroots.

The member representing Ovia Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives challenged the Obaseki-led administration for paying lip service to the take-off of Gele-Gele Seaport project assuring that the project would come to reality under his governorship.

He also promised to make Edo farmland safer through proactive policies.

The lawmaker called on other aspirants in the race to desist from campaign of calumny and character assassination and warned to take necessary actions against those in the habit of maligning his character for political reasons.

A leader of the party in Ovia, Hon Victor Eguaevon, described the aspiration of the lawmaker as divine adding that the people  of the state need a youth as governor of the state.
