Member representing Etsako federal constituency at the National Assembly, Hon Dekeri Anamero has donated books to schools and called for holistic support to enhance learning among students in Edo State.
Anamero, who made the donation in Benin City, said the books would be distributed to all schools across the 18 local government areas of Edo State.
The lawmaker who is vying for the Edo governorship seat come 2024 said his interest in the contest is to change the narrative of the state.
According to him, “This foundation was set up officially in 2011 to give back to the society, and what we are doing today is to bridge the gap between the government and those that are deprived.
“Besides, this is part of the values my father imparted in me to do these things for those that are truly in need.
“I have been giving primary and secondary schools writing materials, building class rooms and paying enrollment fees of students for West Africa Examination Council (WAEC).
“The more I do this (empowerment), I gain internal satisfaction. I don’t want to amass heaven and earth to myself for me to maintain comfort,” he said.
The chairman of the books’ distribution committee, Barr. Gentleman Amegor while flagging off the distribution, commended the donor, just as he revealed that over N200 million was spent on the production of the notebooks.
Amegor also commended the Edo State government for granting approval for the distribution of the notebooks to schools.
He however urged agents in the various local government areas to be diligent in the distribution of the books to ensure that it gets to the students.
