The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has inaugurated N4 billion Senate and Faculty of Law buildings in Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University IBBU Lapai, Niger state.
The Chairman Board of Trustee TETFund Aminu Bello Masari disclosed this during the inauguration at the main campus of the university in Lapai.
He also disclosed that TETFund has expended N15.2 billion for various interventions in IBBU since it’s inception and therefore applauded the management of the university for judicious use of the funds to achieve the desired goals
He reiterated the commitment of TETFund in enhancing the development of tertiary institutions in the country and more educational investment in the country
He stressed that the find has prioritized intervention for higher institutions, support for research, innovations and infrastructural development as exemplified in IBB university.
The Vice Chancellor Professor Mohammed Hadi Suleiman expressed satisfaction with the federal government and TETFund for the interventions, saying that “ this will go a long way in providing conducive office accomodations and academic excellence in the university”.
He explained that the Senate building consist of 70 offices, 200 capacity conference hall, 50 capacity Senate chamber among others while the faculty of law have the capacity of 160 offices, 150 capacity seating for students and 450 capacity sitting theatre at the cost of over N2 billion each including the consultancy fees.
The Niger state governor Mohammed Umar Bago has reaffirmed the determination of his administration in prioritizing sustainable education in the state while commending the management of the university for the achievements recorded so far.
