Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has affirmed that the devotion of his people to education accounts for the South West being the most literate section of the federation and, therefore, too educated to be deceived, oppressed, or suppressed.
At the inauguration of MINARET University, Ikirun, the investiture of the pioneer vice-chancellor and the launch of the university’s maiden publication on global peace yesterday, Governor Adeleke posited that the Osun people are literate and therefore know their rights as assured by the constitution and God.
Adeleke, who commended the founders’ vision for the university, urged them to also align with the vision of Chief Obafemi Awolowo, who designed the old Western Region as a zone to be propelled to the national frontline through educational access.
Earlier, the chancellor and chairman of the Board of Trustees of the university, Alhaji Folorunso Azeez, disclosed that the dream of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at of Nigeria of 2013 was crowned with the federal government’s formal handing over of the licence to operate as Minaret University, Ikirun, Osun State, on Wednesday, 30th April 2025.
According to him, the University’s mini campus, where the inauguration took place, sits on 21 acres of land, while the permanent site, also in Ikirun, spans 530 acres, complemented by a 500-acre future campus and agricultural settlement in Agbonbiti, Ile-Ife, Osun State.
“With modern facilities and essential academic infrastructure, the University commences academic activities with programmes in Data Science, Information Technology, Computer Science, and Cyber Security. Accounting. Economics, Business Administration, Marketing, Logistics, and Supply Chain Management, supported by some of the finest academic and professional minds in their respective disciplines”
