The Yobe State Government has deployed 237 teachers and school principals to Kaduna for intensive capacity-building training as part of its ongoing education reform programme.
A statement issued by the Information Officer of the Office of the Head of Service, Alhassan Sule Mamudo said the Head of Service, Abdullahi Musa Shehu, disclosed this at a send-off ceremony held at the Conference Hall of the Governor’s Office in Damaturu.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Service Welfare Office and Overseas Manpower Development, Alhaji Shuaibu Ibrahim Amshi, the HoS said the initiative is aimed at strengthening the quality of teaching and school leadership across the state.
The participants include 158 teachers and mentors, as well as 79 senior secondary school principals drawn from key education agencies such as the State Universal Basic Education Board, Teaching Service Board and the Science and Technical Education Board.
Shehu said the training forms part of broader reforms to address manpower gaps and improve service delivery in the education sector.
He commended Governor Mai Mala Buni for his commitment to revitalising education, noting that the administration’s declaration of a state of emergency in the sector is yielding results, including improved student performance.
Speaking on the training, the Focal Person on Training and Succession Planning, Ibrahim Bulama Yusuf, said effective school leadership and modern teaching methods are key to achieving quality learning outcomes.
He added that the programme, to be held at the National Teachers’ Institute (NTI), Kaduna, will expose participants to modern pedagogy, innovation and technology-driven teaching methods.
Participants were urged to maintain discipline and professionalism and to transfer the knowledge gained to colleagues and students to improve learning outcomes across the state.
