President Bola Tinubu, state governors and other prominent personalities and organisations in the country yesterday sent messages of goodwill to the Muslim community in the country on the occasion of this year’s Eid-al-Kabir.
The president called for more prayers for the military and security agencies currently making sacrifices to keep the nation safe, particularly those confronting terrorists and bandits.
The president, who observed the Eid-al-Adha prayers at the Eid Ground in Dodan Barracks, Lagos, told newsmen that the security agencies and vulnerable citizens should top the prayer list.
“We should remember to pray and give to those who are very vulnerable in the spirit of the season, which is sacrifice. We must unite, remain our brothers’ keeper, and give to our neighbours. We should show love to everyone.
“We must also pray hard for our troops to keep us safe. They are making sacrifices in the challenges that we face from terrorism and banditry today. We must pray for them specifically, remember their sacrifices, and continue to behave well as citizens,” he added in a statement by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga.
At the prayer ground, the Chief Imam of Lagos State, Suleiman Oluwatoyin Abu-Nola, urged the Muslim faithful to remember and reflect on the holy prophet’s sacrificial life.
“The whole essence of today is sacrifice. We must learn to make sacrifices for our family, nation, and community. We must render our service to Allah, not men,” he said.
Vice President Kashim Shettima in his message urged Nigerians to embrace national unity, collective sacrifice and continued support for President Tinubu’s administration to achieve lasting peace and prosperity in the country.
He urged Nigerians to look beyond their differences and work together for national progress, according to a statement by his spokesman, Stanley Nkwocha.
Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede hailed the Nigerian Army’s resilience in the face of security challenges, describing the troops as a beacon of courage and sacrifice whose efforts continue to inspire national pride and unity.
The COAS in his Sallah message expressed heartfelt felicitations to the officers, soldiers and families of the Nigerian Army, applauding their steadfast commitment, gallantry and selfless service to the nation.
Oluyede in a statement by the Army Spokesperson Lt-Col. Appolonia Anele said, “Your unwavering commitment, selfless devotion, and unflinching resilience in defence of our fatherland are deeply appreciated.”
Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, extended felicitations to the Muslim faithful in Edo State, Nigeria, and across the globe.
He emphasised the profound significance of Eid al-Adha, a festival that symbolises sacrifice, obedience and devotion to Almighty Allah.
He urged Muslims to reflect on the core lessons of the celebration, which include compassion, generosity, and submission to the will of God.
Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, reaffirmed commitment to making additional sacrifices to ensure lasting peace in the state.
While felicitating with Muslim faithful, Governor Zulum vowed to intensify efforts to strengthen security in all resettled local government areas. He emphasised that the state government will maintain close collaboration with the federal government, the armed forces and other security agencies to achieve sustainable peace.
Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, also felicitated with the Muslim faithful, assuring more government support for security, agriculture and infrastructure development.
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, urged residents to embrace the virtues of sacrifice, obedience, and unity as Muslims across the territory celebrate Eid-el-Kabir.
In his goodwill message, Wike extended warm felicitations to the Muslim community, urging them to reflect on the lessons of Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion to Allah.
Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, urged Muslims to use the spiritual significance of the Sallah celebration to reflect on the virtues of obedience, sacrifice, unity, submission and faith, as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim.
Speaking after observing the two rakat prayers at the Okene Central Eid Ground, Governor Ododo encouraged Muslims to remain exemplary ambassadors of peace, compassion and unity.
The Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) called on citizens to embrace the virtues of sacrifice, patriotism, and unity in the spirit of the festival.

Mutfwang in a statement issued by the director of press and public affairs Mr. Gyang Bere called on the Muslim Ummah to use the sacred occasion to offer prayers for lasting peace and unity in Plateau State and the nation at large.
Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru called on Muslims in the country and the state to continue to uphold the virtues of tolerance, mutual respect and peaceful coexistence that are essential for the unity and progress of the state and nation.
Kebbi Governor, Nasir Idris enjoined Muslims to continue praying for sustainable peace in the state. He urged Muslims to use Sallah period to mend relationships for the good of the society.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) congratulated Nigerians on the occasion, urging them to reinforce their faith in the unfailing love, kindness and provision of the Almighty Allah despite the prevailing economic, security and social challenges confronting the nation.
The party tasked the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led All Progressives Congress (APC) administration to use the occasion of the Eid-el-Kabir to imbibe the fear of God, end their profligacy, exploitation, deceit and manipulations that have brought untold hardship to Nigerians.
National publicity secretary of PDP, Hon Debo Ologungaba, in a message, said PDP was deeply disturbed by the pervading sense of gloom in the country; the worsening insecurity where the nation has become a large killing field with citizens left at the mercies of terrorists, bandits and marauders; the unbearable economic hardship and agonizing life-discounting experiences all resulting from the reckless mismanagement of national resources by the insensitive APC administration.
Emir of Ilorin, Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, expressed joy over the peaceful conduct of Eid-el-Kabir festival in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
He lauded the peaceful conduct of Muslim Ummah and thanked the government of Kwara State for improving on the security system across the Ilorin Emirate and the state as a whole.
Sulu-Gambari stated this in his sallah message to the people of the state after prayers at the Ilorin Eid praying ground.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq who is in Saudi Arabia for this year’s hajj was represented by a power delegation, comprising the senior adviser/ counselor, Alh Saadu Salahu, ex – non executive director of NNPCL, Dr Ghali Alaaya and commissioner for Special Duties, Alh AbdulRazaq Jiddah.
A former Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, director general of NILDS, Prof Abubakar Sulaiman and Amb. Yahaya Seriki , were some of the politicians that attended the Eid prayer.

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) extended warm greetings to the Muslim faithful on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir 2025, while also calling for solidarity with flood victims in Niger State.
In a press statement signed by its president, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, CAN emphasised the shared values of sacrifice, love and kindness between Christians and Muslims, urging Nigerians to use the festive period to promote peace and unity.
