The lawmaker, popularly called ‘Senator LA’ by his constituents, also admonished Muslims to use the occasion of this year’s Sallah celebrations to pray for the country and its leaders at all levels for Allah’s knowledge, wisdom to effectively address various challenges confronting the citizens.

Usman gave the charge in a statement in Kaduna on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Fitr, marking the end of the yearly Ramadan fasting period.

Extending his warmest regards to Muslims in his constituency, the state and Nigeria, the Chairman, Senate Committee on Education, Basic and Secondary, noted that Nigeria and the leaders required the prayers to succeed in tackling various challenges confronting the people and the country.

“On this auspicious occasion of the 2025 Eid-el-Fitr, I want to enjoin the Muslim Ummah to use this period of the Sallah celebrations to pray for an end to insecurity, hardship and economic challenges in our various communities and the country as a whole.

“I also enjoin all Muslims to use the occasion of this year’s Sallah to pray for Nigeria and her leaders at all levels for Allah to grant them the knowledge, wisdom and the willpower to address all these challenges confronting the country,” Usman said.

He charged Muslims to sustain the lifestyle of self-denial, refrain from negative behaviours and conducts as well other acts contradictory to the teachings of Islam as lived during the 30 days of fasting as enjoined by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

“As we all know, Ramadan is that period when all Muslims come closer to Allah through diverse acts of worship such as almsgiving, recitation of the Holy Qur’an, offering of prayers at night and pleading for the forgiveness of sins. This full month of spiritual lessons that the Ramadan period presents, gives us, as Muslims, the opportunity to resolve to live in accordance with the consecrated tenets of Islam,” he said.

The lawmaker assured of his continued efforts to increase the access of the people of his senatorial district to basic necessities of life and the real dividends of democracy.
