The Atum Humanitarian Anti-Corruption and Charitable Initiative (AHACCI) has felicitated with Nigerian Muslims as they celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Kabir, urging citizens and leaders alike to embrace sacrifice, compassion, and accountability.
In a statement signed by the group’s Executive Chairman, Comrade Ismaila Yusuf Atumeyi, AHACCI noted that the festival’s message of sacrifice, faith, and responsibility to others resonates more powerfully than ever, given the rising cost of living, persistent insecurity, and deepening uncertainty confronting millions of Nigerians.
“This sacred season is not merely a time for celebration,” Atumeyi said. “It is a profound reminder that societies endure and thrive only when individuals are willing to place the common good above personal gain.”
The group called on political leaders, public office holders, business owners, and privileged citizens to use the period for sincere reflection, prioritising the welfare of the people over self-interest, greed, and corruption.
AHACCI warned that public trust will continue to erode when resources meant to alleviate Nigerians’ suffering are diverted while citizens face hardship, hunger, and despair.
The organisation encouraged all Nigerians to show kindness and practical support to the less privileged, including widows, orphans, internally displaced persons, people living with disabilities, and struggling families for whom the festive season may be especially difficult.
Atumeyi stressed that the fight against corruption must go hand in hand with compassion, justice, and tangible support for vulnerable communities. He added that Nigeria cannot overcome its current challenges when sacrifice is demanded only from ordinary citizens while greed and corruption flourish among the powerful.
He prayed for peace, unity, healing, and renewed hope for the nation on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir.
