The commissioner of Police, Kogi State Police Command, CP Miller Dantawaye, and his counterpart in Benue State, CP Ifeanyi Emenari, have ordered watertight security across the states for crime-free Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer of Kogi State command, SP William Ovye Aya, said the CP also felicitated with Muslim faithful on the occasion of Sallah.
The CP charged Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders as well as Divisional Police Officers to beef up security ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations to prevent any untoward situation in their respective area of responsibilities.
He further tasked them with conducting comprehensive visibility policing and equally deploying human and other operational assets to carry out confidence-building and crime prevention patrols along major highways, places of worship, residential areas, and other critical assets.
The CP assured the law-abiding people in the state that the police are determined to work in synergy with other security agencies to ensure the safety of lives and property during the period.
In Benue, CP Emenari has ordered adequate security at worship centres/praying grounds, major highways and flashpoints across the state to forestall any threat to life and property.
He also assured the public of safety and urged all residents of the state to go about their daily activities without fear, declaring that adequate security personnel would be deployed to strategic locations to guarantee their safety.
The command through the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Udeme Edet, appealed to worshipers to adhere to security guidelines, be law-abiding and conduct themselves peacefully throughout the period of celebration.
