Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has called on Nigerians to embrace peace, sacrifice, compassion and national unity as Muslim faithful across Nigeria and the world celebrate Eid el-Kabir.

In a statement issued in Abuja, the lawmaker representing Kogi Central Senatorial District extended greetings to the Muslim Ummah, urging citizens to reflect on the deeper lessons and values associated with the Islamic festival.

Akpoti-Uduaghan described Eid el-Kabir as one of the most significant moments in the Islamic calendar, symbolising steadfast faith, obedience to God, selflessness and commitment to humanity.

According to her, the celebration offers lessons that go beyond religious observance and can strengthen communities while promoting national cohesion.

“Eid el-Kabir is a sacred season of reflection and gratitude. It reminds us that sacrifice, faith, and compassion remain essential virtues in building peaceful families, stronger communities, and a more prosperous nation,” she stated.

The senator urged Nigerians to embrace the spirit of sharing and support vulnerable members of society, especially at a time when unity and collective responsibility are critical to addressing national challenges.

She stressed that the values demonstrated during Eid should inspire both leaders and citizens to prioritise service, accountability and human dignity above personal interests.

“The significance of Eid goes beyond celebration. It is a reminder that true leadership and responsible citizenship demand sacrifice, empathy, and an unwavering commitment to the common good,” she added.

Akpoti-Uduaghan further called on citizens across Kogi State and Nigeria to sustain peaceful coexistence and reject divisive tendencies, noting that national progress can only thrive in an atmosphere of mutual respect and unity of purpose.

She reaffirmed her commitment to inclusive representation, people-centred governance and developmental initiatives aimed at improving the lives of her constituents while strengthening democratic values.

“As we mark this blessed celebration, let us renew our commitment to peace, tolerance, and unity. Regardless of our backgrounds or affiliations, our collective future depends on our ability to stand together and work for the progress of our communities and our nation,” she said.

The senator also urged Nigerians to use the festive season to pray for enduring peace, economic growth and responsible leadership at all levels.

Expressing optimism about the country’s future, she said the Eid celebration should inspire renewed hope and deeper commitment toward national transformation.
