Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Nyesom Wike has called on residents to embrace the virtues of sacrifice, obedience, and unity as Muslims across the Territory celebrate the Eid-el-Kabir.
In his goodwill message on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir on Friday, Wike extended warm felicitations to the Muslim community and urged them to reflect on the lessons of Prophet Ibrahim’s (AS) devotion to Allah.
“Eid-el-Kabir reminds us of the importance of submission to the will of God, compassion, and generosity.
“It is also an opportunity to renew our commitment to peace, tolerance, and harmonious coexistence in the FCT,” he said.
The minister commended Muslim residents for their contributions to the Territory’s progress, noting that their values align with the administration’s vision for an inclusive and prosperous capital.
He highlighted the significant strides made under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, including infrastructural upgrades, improved security, and social welfare initiatives.
“We are committed to easing the burdens of our people and delivering impactful projects that enhance quality of life.
“The President’s unwavering support has been instrumental in the rapid development of Abuja,” he said.
The minister announced that the FCTA would soon commission multiple completed projects in healthcare, education, agriculture, and transportation as part of activities marking Tinubu’s second year in office.
Addressing security concerns, Wike reassured residents that safety remains a top priority, with security agencies on high alert during the festive period.
“Abuja remains the safest city in Nigeria, and we are working tirelessly to maintain this status,” he said.
He also clarified the recent quarry explosion that caused public alarm, stating that investigations confirmed it was an industrial incident, not a terrorist attack.
“We understand the initial panic, but we assure residents that it was not a security breach. Measures are being taken to prevent future occurrences,” he said.
The minister also urged FCT residents to extend kindness to the less privileged during the celebration, in keeping with the spirit of Eid.
He also called for prayers for President Tinubu’s health and wisdom to lead Nigeria to greater heights.
“May Allah accept our sacrifices and continue to bless the FCT and Nigeria,” he said.
