Eki Holdings Ltd, a Nigerian conglomerate with diverse interests across Africa, has pledged “unwavering support and partnership” with the newly elected president of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Sidi Ould Tah and congratulated him on his victory.
On Thursday, governors of the Group’s 81 shareholders elected former finance minister of Mauritania, Sidi Ould Tah as the new and ninth president of the continent’s premier development institution.
Eki Holdings said the move signals a strong desire for collaboration between the private sector and the continent’s leading development finance institution at a “pivotal time in Africa’s journey”.
In a statement released on Friday, Eki Holdings emphasized its commitment to “building a sustainable and prosperous Africa”, aligning its operations in support services, manufacturing, innovation, and infrastructure development with the AfDB’s core mission of “unlocking Africa’s potential and fostering inclusive growth”.
Godwin Aigboviose Omage, CEO of Eki Holdings Ltd, underscored the urgency of such partnerships. He said “The time for collaboration is now. Africa’s future depends on bold, innovative, and action-driven partnerships.”
Omage added that the AfDB requires “proactive, grounded organisations that understand the terrain, have built trust with local ecosystems, and are ready to implement. Eki Holdings is ready”.
The conglomerate expressed particular enthusiasm for the Bank’s increasing focus on the Green Economy, believing that joint efforts can “empower Africa’s youth and communities through climate-smart initiatives and scalable development solutions”.
Eki Holdings highlighted the readiness of its various subsidiaries, including social impact arm GAF Africa and innovation arm Eki Co-Net, to partner with the AfDB in realizing its “bold visions”. The company believes its “reach, experience, and track record in mobilizing multi-sectoral stakeholders uniquely positions us to be a key implementation partner in your development agenda”.
The statement concluded with a reaffirmation of support for the new AfDB President, noting that their leadership “marks a new chapter for African transformation”, and pledging to “work hand-in-hand to deliver results that matter for the continent’s most valuable asset — its people”.
